Drum Tipper


The patented EHS Drum Tipper is designed to help operators safely transfer materials out of drums while providing access to the drum’s contents. Safety, containment, and productivity are all addressed with this simple to use machine.

Safety: The EHS Drum Tipper addresses the ergonomic risk factors of manually dumping drums. The Drum Tipper can position drums directly above the receiving vessel or container to reduce operator lifting.

Containment: By using the EHS Drum Tipper to control the drum movement and position of the drum, the drum’s liner can be used to improve containment as the product is emptied from the drum. When used in conjunction with an EHS Ventilation Sleeve, the drum liner can be held below the slots of the Ventilation Sleeve to achieve containment levels of less than 10 µg/m3.

Productivity: The EHS Drum Tipper’s simple over-center tipping motion both raises and tips a drum with a single actuator which enables the consistent positioning of multiple drums. The Drum Tipper is designed for easy, open transfer of powders. The Drum Tipper’s tilt angle can be adjusted to achieve optimal product flow to greatly improve operator efficiency.

Variable Height Option

The EHS Variable Height Drum Tipper takes the benefits of the standard Drum Tipper to a new level; a dual-stage design allows drums to be lifted and tipped at much higher heights than is possible with a standard Drum Tipper.  Also, the variable height technology allows operators to serve a variety of discharge heights with a single machine; including applications with adjustable-height ergonomic features, such as enclosures.



Mounting Configurations

The EHS Drum Tipper can be configured with three different mounting styles to best fit the specific application.

Free Standing Drum Tipper

The Free Standing frame is fully mobile, requiring no floor installation. The Drum Tipper is rolled into position and floor brakes are activated before beginning the charging process.

Fixed Mount Drum Tipper

This bolt down design is made for a permanent or semi-permanent installation into concrete or steel flooring.

In-Floor Docking Drum Tipper

The docking system uses a small receiver in the floor that allows the Drum Tipper to dock in place. This approach helps properly position the Drum Tipper in relation to the application and provides stability during the dumping process

Options

A variety of options are available for the EHS Drum Tippers to ensure the final product meets the application needs.

The following are a small selection of the options available:

  • Powered Drum Slide [for increasing the drum cradle reach]
  • Drum Cradle Options [including tapered and removable extension]
  • Compression Funnel [for reducing operator interaction during discharge]
  • Product Chute [for reaching lower discharge heights]


Power Configurations

The EHS Drum Tipper has several power configuration options available.

  • Fully Pneumatic: When compressed air is available, this is the simplest design with the least number of moving parts, ideal for drums weighing less than 300 kilograms. Little maintenance is required on a fully pneumatic drum tipper.
  • Pneumatically-powered Hydraulic: This option provides a smoother drum lift cycle than the fully pneumatic version and is primarily used for drums weighing more than 300 kilograms or drums full of liquids.
  • Battery-powered Hydraulic: Without the need for a compressed air hookup, this option allows for the greatest mobility. All the electric components are enclosed in IP66 rated housing.
  • Plug-in (120 VAC) Electric:  This option uses a fully wash-down, high force electric actuator and plugs into any 120 VAC wall outlet.  This is a good alternative when compressed air is unavailable and the drum tipper load is less than 150 kilograms.


Operator Centric Design

By designing around an analysis of operator movements during the drum charging process, an unmatched level of safety, operating simplicity, and functionality is achieved. A drum can be raised, lowered, and tipped into the proper position by using a single hand or foot control. This approach to drum handling allows the operator to easily control the product flow during the entire charging process.


Cleanability

All exposed surfaces on the Drum Tipper can be fully washed-down for cleaning. Most exposed surfaces are stainless steel, with the exception of some small plumbing components.
